All these models were gradually phased out at the end of the 60s.As implied by its designation the ES-125T is merely an ES-125 with a thinner body. By 1960 two versions with a Florentine cutaway, the ES-125TC and TCD, were released as a replacement for the ES-225T and TD discontinued the previous year. In 1957 a 3/4 size and a dual pickup version became available, but they never gained the same popularity as the ES-125T.

'The ES-125T was introduced at the end of 1956 as a budget model to complement the range of thinline electrics. The tailpiece is an interesting and totally original factory-fitted variant, being the one normally used at the time on the three-quarter size ES-140. The color is a wonderful two-tone Sunburst - quite different from the three-tone Sunburst that was introduced on this model in 1959. This guitar is in near mint (9.25) condition, with virtually no finish checking. Admittedly thereвЂ™s an amount of wrangling required to tame the beast but even at more reasonable volumes, this guitar sings. The most famous proponent of the ES125 has to be George Thorogood and the pickups on this guitar do definelty deliver that raunchy tone. Thankfully the guitar was not in the case at the time! The guitar comes with its correct вЂGator skinвЂ™ case that unfortunately had an accident that broken it along three surfaces. Inside, the electronics are all correct and both pickups are working really well with all the bite, quack, growl and warmth you expect from vintage P-90вЂ™s. There are a few scratches here and there which isnвЂ™t surprising but all in all this is a very clean guitar. There does seem to be some feint evidence of another set of tuners being installed on the guitar but thankfully the correct tuners have been reinstated. The original frets and fretboard are in good shape without any extreme wear. The faux-tortoise shell pickguard hasnвЂ™t warped. The tailpiece and rosewood bridge are in fantastic condition as are the plastics. The cherry finish on this guitar has weathered well and is still quite vivid as is the back. Included is an envelope that contains the original receipt from when the guitar was purchased new, in 1963. What you do get here is a great sounding and stylishly understated thinline electric guitar in the spirit of the classic ES-330вЂ™s and ES-225вЂ™s.
